Recruitment Guidelines for Post Primary Teachers 2023/2024.
TSC recruitment 2024.In response to the teacher recruitment advertisement, School Boards of Management are responsible for conducting the selection process for vacant teaching positions.
The Selection Panel is expected to maintain the highest standards of transparency and accountability, as stipulated in the Public Officers Ethics Act and the TSC Code of Conduct and Ethics 2015.
The Head of the institution must brief the panel on the relevant sections of the Act before beginning the selection process.

Application Eligibility For Teachers
All applicants must be registered teachers, as required by Section 23(1) of the Teachers Service Commission Act Cap 212.
Those lacking Registration Certificates must provide evidence of their application for registration. Applicants failing to meet registration requirements will be ineligible for recruitment.
Applicants requesting confirmation of results from KNEC must provide the County Director’s address where they submitted their applications.
Government employees from other departments who meet the criteria are eligible to apply.

TSC Application Letters Submission
Applicants must submit their applications to the School Board of Management and send a copy to the TSC Sub-county director.
Upon receiving applications, Heads of Institutions must acknowledge them in writing. After shortlisting, they should promptly inform those who didn’t meet the criteria.
The TSC Sub-County Director will compile a list of applicants in each institution for reference during the interview.

TSC Interview Venue,Date And Time
The interview date, venue, and time should be posted on notice boards at various offices.
Heads of Institutions should notify shortlisted applicants via SMS at least seven days before the interview to ensure they are informed about the date, venue, and time.
All applicants, regardless of gender, disability, ethnicity, or home county, should receive equal opportunities. In case of a tie, priority is given to applicants with disabilities, followed by age, quality of certificates, and those who haven’t been employed by the Commission before.
The names of interviewed applicants, ranked by performance, are then submitted to the Commission.
Applicants previously employed by the Commission must declare their past employment history and reasons for service termination in their application. Failure to declare disqualifies them.
Applicants previously offered employment by the Commission but failed to take up the appointment without notifying the Commission are not eligible for employment.
TSC County Directors must ensure that Heads of Institutions confirm online registration status to avoid engaging unregistered or deregistered teachers in the selection process.

Document Authentication
Applicants must present original and legible photocopies of various documents, including ID cards, KCPE and KCSE certificates, diploma/degree certificates, and more. An affidavit is required if there are discrepancies in the names on the documents.
The selection panel will verify that applicants meet the TSC requirements and that their submitted academic and professional documents are genuine.
Selection Panel Composition And Roles
The Selection Panel comprises seven members, including the Chairperson of the School Board of Management, two board members, Head of the Institution, Deputy Head, Subject Specialist, and the TSC County Director/Representative.
Selection Criteria/Interviews Of Qualified Candidates
The Board of Management Secretary presents a list of applicants to the panel. The panel harmonizes this list with the TSC Sub-county Director and conducts interviews for qualified candidates. The County Director addresses any inconsistencies and advises accordingly.
Applicants must meet specific qualifications, depending on their category: Graduate Teachers, Diploma Teachers, and Technical Teachers. Various criteria apply, and those with enhancement certificates or official transcripts in a teaching subject qualify.
Document Validation by County Director
The County Directors ensure that all documents are in order and complete. They verify that the applicant is qualified and has the required attachments, including signed commitment letters.

Submission to TSC Headquarters
The TSC County Director submits a set of documents to the TSC Headquarters, which include the Application for Employment Forms, a list of applicants in order of merit, minutes of the selection panel, selection score guides, commitment letters, and various certified copies and forms.
Applicants Complains After Interviews
Applicants dissatisfied with the process can submit written complaints to the TSC County Director and the TSC Headquarters. The County Director is responsible for analyzing and addressing complaints within seven days.
Important Notes to Applicants
The Application for Employment Form must not be defaced or photocopied. For clarification on qualification issues, seek guidance from TSC County Directors. The Commission retains the right to carry out recruitment directly from the TSC Headquarters, despite decentralization.
