Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu recently outlined three reasons for the delay in announcing the KCSE 2023 results. In an exclusive interview, he confirmed that the results are set to be unveiled in the second week of January 2024, precisely between January 7th and 13th. Access to the results will be through the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) portal.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) decided to reschedule the release, prompting concerns from the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) about the accuracy of grading. Addressing these concerns, Machogu assured that the marking process has been completed. Currently, the marks are undergoing verification and validation to ensure the credibility of the results. The emphasis is on providing accurate and reliable information to students and their parents.

Highlighting the marking process, Machogu mentioned several designated centers, including Starehe Girls Centre, Kiambu High School, Machakos Girls, and others. This thorough approach aims to maintain the integrity of the educational system and provide students with a fair and accurate assessment of their performance.
The disclosure about the results comes at a time when primary and secondary schools are set to reopen, adding to the anticipation and importance of timely result announcements. It’s noteworthy that the results will be easily accessible through the KEMIS portal, streamlining the process for both students and their parents.

In response to concerns raised by Knut, Machogu reiterated the commitment to ensuring a comprehensive analysis before disclosing the grades. This cautious approach is particularly relevant in light of previous instances of leaked exam results and the ongoing efforts to curb exam cheating.
As the education community awaits the release of the KCSE 2023 results, Machogu’s assurance of a meticulous verification process underscores the commitment to delivering credible and reliable outcomes for students across the country.
