The academic year in 2024 kicks off with the first term on January 8, 2024, for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools.

This term extends until, providing a 13-week period for learning. In the midst of this term, there is a brief intermission, a three-day half-term break, from February 29 to March 3, offering students and educators a moment of respite.
Subsequently, a more extensive three-week holiday window opens up from April 8 to April 26.
Second Term Dates 2024
As we shift to the second term, this phase spans a duration of 14 weeks, launching on April 29 and wrapping up on August 2.
A mid-term break occurs from June 20 to June 23, allowing students to recharge. Following the second term, a three-week summer break runs from August 5 to August 25, granting students a lengthier vacation to unwind and prepare for the upcoming academic challenges.
Term three Dates 2024
The concluding term of the academic year, lasting for a period of 9 weeks, is scheduled from August 26 to October 25.
This term accommodates essential assessments, including the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) exams, slated for October 28 to October 31.

Knec Exams Dates 2024
Following these examinations, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams are programmed to take place from November 4 to November 22. Students then embark on a prolonged December holiday, commencing from October 28 and extending until January 3, 2025.
For teachers’ training colleges, the academic calendar for 2024 follows a similar pattern. The first term initiates on January 8 and extends through to April 5, with a holiday period from April 8 to April 26.
The second term runs from April 29 to August 2, featuring holidays from August 5 to August 30. The final term for teachers’ training colleges spans a duration of 11 weeks, commencing on August 26 and concluding on November 8.
The academic year concludes with a lengthy break, beginning on November 11 and stretching through to January 3, 2025, providing ample time for educators to recharge and prepare for the year ahead.
