Knec news(kcpe marking).More and more teachers are applying for the opportunity to grade the KCPE 2023 Insha and Compo papers following an invitation from the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec).
They’re downloading their invitation letters online. In October, Knec invited primary and secondary school teachers trained as examiners for this year’s KCPE and KCSE exams to apply online. KCPE examiners started applying on October 16, 2023, while KCSE examiners began on November 1, 2023.
The application process involves using a specific link. Knec will provide further details about the examiners’ travel to marking centers in Nairobi.
In total, 1,415,315 candidates sat for the KCPE exams, and 1,282,574 candidates took the KPSEA assessments. The exams started on October 30, 2023, and ended on November 1, 2023.
KCPE candidates completed papers in subjects like Mathematics, English, English Composition, Kiswahili, Kiswahili Insha, Science, and Social Studies. While Insha and Composition papers will be manually marked by examiners, multiple-choice questions will be electronically scored using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) technology.
Knec news(kcpe marking). The OMR system scans answer sheets and detects marked areas more efficiently than previous technology. KCPE results are expected before Christmas, and Grade 6 learners who took the KPSEA exams will receive their results simultaneously.
However, the focus will be on releasing KCPE results to allow for a smooth transition to Form 1. Parents will also receive information about their children’s school admissions before Christmas.
The government is taking steps to ensure the efficient and timely marking of exam papers through two shifts.
