TSC to Confirm Promotion of All Administrators Served With Regret Letters on August 2023

TSC news (Senior promotion).The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) plans to promote administrators who received regret letters in August 2023 due to a shortage of school leaders.

Many schools lack headteachers, deputies, and senior teachers, and with upcoming retirements, the TSC has no choice but to promote those previously issued regret letters.

Some of them were deputy headteachers acting as headteachers, but some lacked the required degree certificate.

TSC news (Senior promotion).As of July 2023, 3,359 public schools were without headteachers, including 1,918 primary schools and 1,441 secondary schools. To address this, the TSC advertised 14,738 teacher promotions but faced challenges attracting applicants.

TSC CEO Nancy Macharia expressed disappointment at teachers not applying for promotions in other counties and emphasized the government’s commitment to allocate 1 billion shillings for promoting 36,505 teachers in the 2023/2024 financial year.

Macharia urged teachers to attend interviews for the advertised 36,505 vacancies and highlighted the importance of not shying away from responsibilities.

The TSC Career Progression Guidelines emphasize that teachers cannot skip a job group during promotions. The advertised positions range from Senior Teacher II to Chief Principal, addressing both regular and special needs institutions.
