TSC News(Jss Heads).The primary school headteachers in Mombasa are calling on the National government to appoint them as principals of Junior Secondary Schools under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
This recommendation aligns with the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, which suggested a comprehensive school system where Pre-primary to Grade 9 would function as one institution with a single head and two deputies.

TSC News(Jss Heads).Throughout the year, primary school heads have been acting as principals for Grade 7 students during the transition, but their official confirmation is pending.
The Kenya Primary School Headteachers Association (Kepsha) national chairperson, Johnson Nzioka, emphasized the need for these primary school headteachers to be confirmed as Junior Secondary School principals.
He highlighted the advantages of a comprehensive school system, such as smoother transitions and improved alignment in school policies, curriculum, and teaching methods.

Nzioka also stressed that a unified leadership could enhance management, coordination, and resource sharing among the different levels of education.
However, he acknowledged that managing a comprehensive school system could present challenges, and collaboration among stakeholders is essential to address these issues. He called for equitable resource allocation, professional development, and support programs for learners.
