The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has issued a circular, directing that only secondary school teachers will exclusively oversee and invigilate the 2023 KCSE exams, a move that aligns with the regulations set by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).

The TSC, under the leadership of Chairperson Nancy Macharia, announced that a total of 101,376 secondary school teachers have been recruited to manage the exams across the nation.
This decision impacts over 900,000 Form Four students who are set to participate in this year’s KCSE exams.
TSC latest news(Invigilators).Macharia emphasized that the teachers chosen to administer the exams have undergone a rigorous vetting process conducted by the TSC.
The directive clearly stipulates that only secondary school teachers are eligible to serve as invigilators, supervisors, and center managers for KCSE, aligning the process with KNEC regulations.

It’s worth noting that primary school teachers were previously responsible for conducting the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
Nancy Macharia expressed confidence in the preparations for a successful nationwide distribution of the exams. A collaborative multi-agency team is diligently working across the country to ensure a seamless examination period, even in areas that may pose logistical challenges.

To guarantee access to even the most remote areas, the government has helicopters on standby to airlift exams in case of difficult terrain.
