Updated ECDE Teachers salary .Nyeri County has recently implemented substantial salary increases for Early Childhood and Development Education (ECDE) teachers, delivering welcome news to over 800 educators in the region.
These salary enhancements, ranging from Sh11,000 to Sh22,000, were officially announced by Governor Mutahi Kahiga during a meeting held at the Nyeri Cultural Centre. The increased compensation is expected to take effect by the end of the current month.

The significant salary boost stems from the Council of Governors’ successful development of a comprehensive Scheme of Service, which was subsequently approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Governor Kahiga, during his tenure as the chairman of the Education Committee at CoG, worked diligently to ensure that this Scheme of Service is universally applicable across all 47 counties.
This ensures that ECDE teachers in different counties, such as Turkana and Nyeri, receive equal pay for their work.

Additionally, this Scheme of Service not only results in improved salaries but also establishes a transparent career progression framework for ECDE teachers.
Updated ECDE Teachers salary.In a move to recognize and appreciate their contributions, the county government promoted 816 ECDE teachers from contract to permanent, pensionable positions during the preceding year.
The salary adjustments vary based on job groups, with those in the highest cadre (Job Group ‘K’) experiencing the most significant increase.This salary increment is retroactive to July of the current year, ensuring that ECDE teachers receive the backdated pay.

Furthermore, these educators will now be eligible for promotions and salary increases in accordance with the regulations set by the County Public Service Board, similar to other county government employees.

This includes supplying ECDE teachers with 150 tables and an equivalent number of contemporary chairs, with plans to deliver the remaining 650 to ensure a conducive working environment for educators.
Governor Kahiga urged the educators to reciprocate this support by providing the best care and education to the children, underlining the importance of tangible results.
